The NAIP was launched
successfully on July 26, 2006 by
Shri Sharad Pawar,
Union Minister for Agriculture in the presence of Dr.
Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning
Commission, Govt. of India and Dr. Mangala Rai,
Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR.The new logo
reflecting the main features of the NAIP was |

unveiled by Hon'ble Union
Minister for Agriculture. He addressed the Workshop with
his inspiring words followed by the propitious speech by
Dr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
Mr. Rachid Benmessaoud,
Operations Advisor, World Bank, New Delhi also spoke on
the occasion. During the inaugural session, publications
on "Project |

Implementation Plan" and
"Achievements & Success Stories" of 43 Mission Mode
projects completed under NATP were released. The
technical sessions were chaired by
Dr. M.V. Rao,
formerly Spl. DG, ICAR and Dr. Mangala Rai, DG, ICAR. In
the technical sessions, besides presentation on project
overview by ND, NAIP,

component-wise
presentations were made by different stakeholders
involving SAU, NGO, Private sector and international
research institution. There were also presentations on
project monitoring and evaluation by
Dr. Willem Janssen,
Sr. Agril. Specialist, World Bank, Washington D.C. &
Task Team Leader, NAIP, |

Commerce, NGO, successful women farmer, fishery and
pomegranate farmer from different parts of the country.
The event was well-covered by the press and media. The
1st meetings of the National Steering, Project
Management and Research |

Program Committees were held on July 25, & 27, 2006 to
sensitize the members about the task in the project
management and execution. |
THE SIGNING CEREMONY
The
signing ceremony of the project was held on
July 24, 2006 at Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India in
the presence of Mr. Prafull C.
Patel, Vice-President, The World Bank. The credit
agreements were signed by Dr.
Michael Carter, Country Director, World Bank Office,
New Delhi and Mr. Madhusudan
Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of
India. The Project Agreement was signed by Dr. Michael Carter
and Dr. Mruthyunjaya,
National Director, NAIP, ICAR-DARE, Govt. of India.
